Family photography; tips for a wonderful session.

Family photography is a wonderful way to capture and preserve memories of the people we hold dear. Whether it’s posed family photos, candid photos or a collection of photos taken over the years, family photos can be treasured for generations to come. So why is family photography so important?

For one, it captures a moment in time that can never be repeated. As families grow and change, it’s wonderful to have a visual record of where you’ve been and how far you’ve come. Additionally, family photos can help us remember loved ones who have passed on, and allow us to share their stories with future generations.

When it comes to family photography, there are a few things to keep in mind. Here are some tips for creating beautiful and meaningful family photos:

Location, location, location!

When selecting a location for your family photos, think about what’s meaningful to your family. Maybe there’s a park that you love to visit, or a beach where you spend your summers. Consider the time of day as well – early morning or late afternoon light can make for stunning photos. Outfits – coordinate but don’t match.

While you don’t want to look too “matchy-matchy,” coordinating your family’s outfits can help create a cohesive look in your photos. Stick with a color scheme or style that works for your family, and consider adding accessories or layers for interest. Each of my sessions comes with an interactive styling guide; it definitely takes away the stress of coordinating your outfits!

Everyone squeeze in!

Family photos are a great opportunity to get everyone involved and make memories together. Have fun with your poses and get creative – jump, dance, or make funny faces for the camera. During your session with me, I’ll also have you snuggle up tight and really capture that connection.

Show off your family!

In the digital age, it’s easy to let our photos sit on our phones or computers, but there’s something special about having physical prints to hold and display. Once you receive your images back from your session with me, you have the option to order prints, albums, wall art galore! Do it. You won’t regret it!
